2:18 Legendary comic book artist John Victor Romita, senior, known professionally as just John Romita Senior, died recently in his sleep. John worked on both marvels, starting with its predecessor Timely Comics and DC, and is the Co creator of characters such as Mary Jane Watson, The Punisher, Wolverine and Luke Cage just named a few of note. His son John Armeter Junior follow his follows footsteps to also become a comical artist and is still working in the industry as of today. He was 93 A Hassan. Are you familiar with John's work? I was very much familiar with John's work. I'm more familiar with his son's work but I do know John Romita, it was a monster in you know a Titan of the industry.

None other than actor Julian Sands is still missing after leaving for a hike in the San Bernano Mountains five months ago, the Sheriff's Department says. On Saturday, June 17th, 2023, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department continued ongoing search efforts in the Mount Baldy Wilderness for missing hiker Julian Sands. Unfortunately, Mr. Sands was not located. Mr. Sands missing persons case remains active and search efforts will continue in a limited capacity despite some parts of the area still being under 10 feet of snow. Helicopters, drones and over 80 search and rescue volunteers keep on looking.

8:07 Marvel have announced that they will not be planning any San Diego Comic Con presentations, with Marvel saying that they will quote still have a presentation on the convention floor. UN quote. It's crazy. So now slowly starting to see the effects of things happening. So now I think, like as I've said many time, I really think this is going to be for the long haul because one of the contentions was AI. And for you astute listeners and Hassan, maybe you also noticed. But the Secret Invasion came out this morning and they use AI and they're calling credits, so. And people are. People are very salty about it. Yes.

8:47 So now you know, I think it's going to go for long haul, but now we're starting to see the reactions. And my question is if the, the fans, the consumers, when will they start to turn on the writers? Well, I mean, look, it's a, it's going to, it's going to a be a slow trickle because everything is, everything is so done ahead of time. Everything is so ahead of schedule usually. That by the time that we get any kind of press or anything like that, then any of these shows are going to happen. They're either the production on them is either halfway down or done right. So it was like the pandemic when they announced probably in that.

9:29 I remember sometime around February, February or March that they were going to slow down and they were going to halt some productions of of movies or whatever. Because the pandemic was, you know, everyone was kind of laughing at COVID at the time and then started to really flare up and and and become a concern. And so everything kind of stopped and it all stopped in the course of a week. Like Marvel and DC stopped printing for a little while. They stopped delivering comics to retailers for a little while. And you know, a lot of the productions and movie Hollywood production shut down, but we were still watching movies all the way into about June. Before we started to actually feel like, wait, there's nothing coming up, You know, there's there's we're running out of stuff to review or running out of stuff to new things to watch or new things to look forward to. Did you?

10:20 Feel like? That I'm sorry. Did you feel like that? I yeah, do. We could feel it. I mean, it wasn't, it wasn't like a it wasn't a crisis. But it it did kind of feel like a crunch. Well, you guys actually did it like a, you know, like a full-fledged show. You know, on the other show I was in and we we did reviews mostly, so when we ran out of stuff to review, we could feel like nothing to watch. So I think this is, it's going to be like that where you're going to forget that there is a strike and you're going to remember. And you know whenever someone says something about it, then you're going to forget again and you're going to, someone's going to say something, you're going to remember and then one day there's. Not gonna be anything, anything new coming on. There's not gonna be new movies or new shows. And that's when the the genuine public will be like something's gotta be done about this.

So we've been talking about this for a long time. The movie finally came out and disappointing $55 million later. Now we're gonna see what's gonna happen with Arsenal, cuz now he's no longer the Golden Boy and making this movie that was supposed to.

None other than the Japanese government run agency for Cultural Affairs had accidentally listed the top ten anime and manga piracy sites on its website. That was designed to fight piracy, apparently. These piracy sites were listed on the August of last year and the error wasn't caught until May of this year. Originally the names were blocked out, but if you were able to mouse over it, you could just read everything.

17:05 An employee from the company noticed that people on social media had called on to the URLs and we're talking about them. As soon as this was realized, the agency acted and the list was removed within hours, the government says. We will absolutely implement a checking system to ensure that a similar problem does not arise in the future. Of of note, according to experts, in 2021 piracy cost creators and distributors between 14 and 16 billion with the B dollars in just 2021 alone, between 900 million and 10 billion of that was lost to videos and anime.

19:59 Last bit of news from That's quite a wait, quite a while to wait follow up department. Wow, during the. Previous episode of our show. We reported that none other than actors Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting winning from the 1968 film Romeo and Juliet had filed A lawsuit against Paramount Pictures for claiming that the director of the film, who died in 2019, quote implored to to perform in the nude without body makeup. It turns out that the lawsuit had been thrown out of court by a judge stating that quote. Get out of. Here have not put forth any authority showing the film can be deemed to be sufficiently sexually suggestive as a matter of law to be held to be conclusively illegal. Plaintiffs arguments on the subject is limited to cherry picks language from their federal state statutes without offering any authority regarding the interpretation or application of those statutory provisions to purpose works of artistic merit.

21:02 As such the award-winning film at issue here. The actors lawyers plan to appeal and file a separate lawsuit in a federal court with the intention of using the Criterion Collection DVD of the film, which came out in this February. The Criterion released included a 4K digital restoration that can be argued that it would restart the statute of limitations at both actors reminders at the time of filming. The lawyer says children cannot consent to use of these images. They're profiting off of these images without consent. So this is all about them being in the nude in the movie. In the 1968 movie Romeo and Juliet, if you recall Elman Jenny Felding, we were at the library.

Well, it was a traumatic experience on the record. We don't really know if it was a traumatic experience. And I'm someone that I feel like I've kind of just cast problems aside sometimes when maybe they were bigger. But we don't know, We don't really know how these people were affected, if they're playing the victim, if they were really affected. Is this kind of like that Nirvana kid all over again where people are just trying to make frivolous lawsuits or is or were they really affected?

The time has come for Day Gone to make the final preparations for the return of his master and to gather the keys that will unleash the great dreamer on an unsuspecting world. This story is by Joe Brucia, David Franchini and David Wall. It is written by David Wall and David Franchini. 26:59 The letters are by Taylor. This comic is told mostly from the perspective of Dagon. It chronicles the near conquest of the Earth by the Ancient Ones, the Old Ones, Kathulu, and also the defeat of the Ancient Ones and their armies of the Deep Ones. By the elder gods of man, the Deep Ones rose from the waters at the behest of Kathulu to basically subjugate the Earth, mostly because they were squandering the the land and not living right according to the Old Ones. And so they set their armies forth to do something about it. But the Elder Gods protected man, stopped the Cthulu, and defeated the armies. They apparently imprisoned Kathulu.

27:41 Drove all the the generals of the Cthulhu's army into either subjugation or hiding. Dagon himself was wounded badly and sank to the bottom of the ocean, where he was thought to be dead, but he was only sleeping. Hundreds of years later, Dagon awakes and he realizes Cthulhu has been imprisoned. He needs these special but vaguely defined keys. To be able to unleash the great dreamer to Thulu from his prison so that they can once again unleash conquest upon the earth. He has an assortment of followers with him, small army of followers, deep ones which are appear to be ancient sea creatures, the lizard like cephalopoid kind. And the couple of special humans who have either been given special powers or have were born with special powers or by some feet of nature attained these particular powers. So the.

28:37 They can basically aid their master. They're very loyal to Dagon. They've been tasked with finding the keys to Cthulhu's prison so that they can unleash him and save the planet. That's the opening act of the comic book, the 1st 20 show pages of Dagon, reliving the ancient war where he lost and several of his his cogenerals were either imprisoned or killed. Cthulhu was imprisoned himself. He fell into a deep sleep and then woke up again. To to realize that he had a lot of work to do in order to conquer the world. Then it jumps to another character who is unnamed, who was a young boy in dire straits with really not so great parents. And the way the story is portrayed, he is either schizophrenic or slightly psychotic, starts talking to the animals around him and he's a he's not a great kid. He's kind of a loner in school.

29:31 He's not treated well by his parents and not treated well by the the other kids at school. Father leaves he and his mother, and his mother is an alcoholic who drinks a lot and then passes out and he starts talking to animals. He realizes the world is a is a bigger place and he gets his inspiration from a particular rat that he finds in the kitchen. And the rat encourages him to start reading books and reading HP Lovecraft and he realizes it's a bigger world and he starts sacrificing animals to get into blood magic and through these acts of cruelty. The voices start coming and tell him to do things, and so after he murders a cat, he murders his mother and then he can finally speak to the gods. He goes on a long spree of terrible murders and traveling around the world to find ancient sources of power and more meaning and more purpose.

30:24 He again runs into the talking rat that explains to him that he now works for Dagon and that he is one of these keys. In London he gets captured by the police for committing several murders. Day Gone comes and rescues him. It's a it's kind of long, but it it reads really well, reads really quickly. There's it's not a very complex read. I think the artwork is very nice. It's very clear. It's very concise, A beautifully done book. It's very professional. The colors are are nice and muted giving it a gritty look. The main characters are well defined and their purpose is is pretty clear I think.

31:04 This is an opening book for a saga that seems very poised to chronicle the rise of Dagon and his attempt to subjugate the world in order to freak Thulu and basically destroy all of humankind. I'm interested to read the next few books. I'm interested to see how it all plays out because I enjoyed it very much. So that's about it from the Comic insider and was us going inside rooting around. And discover what exactly is going on. It is phenomenal.

It's great, but don't keep drinking it because the more you as you're doing the voice or if you keep drinking, it dries out because there's a slipperiness that your vocal cords need to have that it dries it out as I'm feeling a little dried out right now. And the last thing is to One last tip is that if you know you're going to have a marathon of voice over work the next day, don't speak a couple days before say your voice. Yes, great excuse to avoid dumb conversations. Well, she will own me with her beautiful voice and always having interesting points make me think.
