Genre that is a huge part of our popular culture, if not for Action Comics and the introduction of Superman composite of likely died off, many decades ago. I believe that coming for me, one of the most compelling alternative investment categories with values that have Room for appreciation and growth especially in comparison all the categories.

AmiYumi recently She-Hulk Lovecraft country, the none too, but getting back into Comics. Like I've always published Comics under my banner, Asylum press. And we're a small press horror comics publishing company been doing it since 1999. We polish stuff like War lash Fearless Dawn, vampire versus Zombie tears. Vampire McCobb. Satan's powder room like we've done a bunch of stuff, but we're small and we're in D so we don't put out a lot of books but recently we've been putting out more stuff we've been doing kickstarter's. The new book is called here with ston the bomb. Now this book has been published under the bomb trade paperback in like 2010 which was the origin of fearless tan but we never put Out as a series.

36:25 So we don't feel that the origin of fearless Dawn, ever got the readership that it could have if it was put out as a floppy Series. So it's going to be a four issue series. Steve is reworking the arc and you're going to be able to see and read how Fearless tan got her powers. Got her costume, who were friends are who Helga is it kind of starts from the beginning and it's a really great Series. So it's in In previews now and you can pre-order it by January 18th. But if that date has passed you can order it anytime in your comic shop Diamond will have it. So just, you know, just make sure, hey, just order it or pre-order it and it's a four issue Series. So it's going to be going by monthly for the next four months.

37:15 All right, so, let's, let's, let's break this down. So first question is, you said that he's, he's reworking. The art. Does that mean, he's going back to the original? My script and redrawing everything or just like making small tweaks to the artwork, I would say it's more small treatments like he's adding some gray tones, he's fixing a few things, they're not major changes but we're just kind of tweaking it a little bit and maybe reworking some of the words but they're not me. It's not a major difference from the bomb trade paperback, if you have it and we're just making the story a little more coherent so that it works in the bomb. There were a bunch of These short stories of these other little characters is ancillary characters. So we might take those out to give more room for the story and then the other thing was, there was a fifth issue for the bomb. So we're just combining the five issues series into this, for issue series.

38:16 I guess, so there's an added chapter at the end. That was never seen before. I'll call. Now you did say, you went from 14. Doing comic books to storyboarding to back to comic books. So can you tell us a little bit about the difference of how storyboarding Works compared to doing Comics? Will storyboarding is basically like Comics because you're taking the script and you're drawing it out, like you're drawing boards for the director. So that in animation, it could go off to be animated or you know, the writers and editors could just look at it and see how the script is working. And then in live-action, you're working with the director. Actor to draw out the script so that it makes it easier when he gets on set.

38:57 So he could tell the, you know, the camera guy and the special effects guy in the like rips. Hey, this is the shot. Let's set this up. If you don't have storyboards and you get on set. Well, how did directors work that way? It can still work but there's a lot more explaining that speed on well, we want this he's going to be over there and he's going to be there and we have you know it's going to be a medium-weight medium with this low angle triangle with a storyboard. He can just put it up and go. This is the shot, I want. Let's set this up and then from there, they can always make adjustments. Let's go a little wider, a little closer. Let's, and then and the camera guy could, hey, let's move the camera a little bit but it's a basic blueprint of what the shots are and it just makes things run smoother on the set.

39:42 You're basically telling stories a lot of comic book artists do really well is born artist because they know how to draw everything they could draw cars, guns, monsters, everything. And you just draw a little Little looser. That's the thing. You don't. It's like a comic book without the ink stage. So you're drawing lose because you have to draw fast. So it's kind of like comic book rough pencils, I guess you could say that's a storyboard and it's real fun like a really like dang it. I like working on big projects on small projects. I do a lot of horror stuff but you know during covid I had some down time. I was like I got to get back into my Comics because I love comics and I never stopped doing. And it's just that when you have Full-time job.

40:25 You can't put out that many Comics per year, so maybe I was doing one or two. So I just kind of update during covid and I'm going to attempt to do more comic publishing with the day job, you know, if possible. So we'll see how that works out. So, you know, it's definitely a challenge. So since you were around in the 90s and I do remember some impress, that name does sound familiar. Did you ever go like New York Comic Con or relaxing on your Comic Con was a creation conventions and the Big Apple con. Like I've heard the name before. Yeah, I was, I was from Connecticut. So I went to the Great Eastern shows. I've been going to Great Eastern shows from 91 till, you know, till they ended.

41:06 But I did Big Apple. I did the Boston shows I did. All the Connecticut shows, I did the Rhode Island shows, I would do Jersey Philly, and I did those from 91 to, you know, I left for our way, which is like 2002. So I did all that stuff. I started asylum in 99, but in between that I was doing, I take my book vampire verses which cfd published and, you know, some other Indie stuff and I was always at their shows. So, what is the biggest difference between bank, then making comics and now making comedies? I mean, wow. I mean I think back then they're just seemed like there was it seemed like there were less title.

41:49 So there was more fervor for like an independent publisher like I fit in there, right? With you know Lady Death and razor and boneyard and cry for Dawn and all the guys like Jim balint, and all those guys that I was doing black and white, you know, mature readers horror. And when you went around there was just a lot more. It seemed like there were more readers for that stuff and Any stores would carry you and you could do a signing and people would show up. It just seems like there's a lot more going on. There's a lot more. Distraction printing was cheaper, you know? You would easily do a print run of 2 or 3 thousand and you could get rid of the books, like you could have stores, buy them. Wholesale you have the room or Distributors, you could do shows and you just move the books faster. I think today, it takes a little more time to move the books. I mean, there's in there so many variants like I can't believe when I go on whatnot.

42:45 There's like very thing is variant that store variant, you know, Chrome during it. I mean, you thought the 90s Hadrian's, I think there's way more variance today than there was in the 90s. The 90s was like known for that so it's hard when collectors I think are spending $300 on these variants and it's like dude I just want you to buy my for dollar book, it's a good book. I just want you to read my book like it's a cool story like you don't need to pay 300 for a variant when You can get a story for four bucks, you know. So I think it's a matter of finding that audience is always the challenge that I've had for an indie publisher that doesn't publish regularly. Like that's the thing like you could go to our website, Asylum press.com and get all the back issues. But the thing is, we don't appear in comic book shops on a regular basis so people forget you but we are creating it's just we don't have the output of big Publishers. That's the But we never stopped.

43:44 We've been putting our comic since 99, you know. So what do you think would be the the key for independent creators out there? Because once again, as you mentioned, usually they are independent and they don't publish on a frequent or consistent basis but they do publish. So what do you think? Personally is the key to keep people coming to your way to your stuff as an independent creator? Yeah, right will social media is great because at least like people could follow you and see that you're still doing stuff and the 90s if you didn't put anything out, you have to run an ad in like CBG or something to say, hey I'm still here like people didn't know you but we update our blogs, we update our website, we update our newsletter.

44:30 I try to go on podcasts like this radio, shows, whatever I can to try to get the word out. I'm always on YouTube. I'm trying to use more Indie Distributors, Like Comics mainstream comics. Distro or Powerhouse. And these guys are really like micro Indie Distributors, that also set up a comic book shows and I really like that to have my book being, you know, sold at local comic shows, regionally being on a table. I think that's really important because being in La I can usually only do West Coast shows. So I like the idea that I have these guys doing comic show. So I would love to sell more wholesale to comic book guys that you can.

45:13 Comic shows, and or retailers. If anyone's listening hit us up on our website because I really want to sell more direct. I think that's a great way to get the stuff out there because I am carried by Diamond lunar. I use other distribution methods like fair and crio a these are on sale online wholesalers that are they still to like retail locations like, you know, like a Spencer Gifts or a Hot Topic when it was Indie, they also sell the comics Oops. So I really do a lot to get the books out there in a wholesale level, but it's just everything. It's everything you got to do, shows you got to sell to show dealers, you got to sell to whatnot dealers, you have to sell to stores, you got to do store appearances.

45:58 I mean, it's just everything it always was and I think more because now you have podcasts on social media. So you're constantly, you know, promoting and selling yourself. It's crazy. 47:32 My final question is use mention that you destroyed boarding. Any work for Animation Studios? Have you ever thought to make an animated series of your Comics? Yeah, I mean, I would love to do that and we've done some pencil tests. We've done, I mean, like I'm doing cartoons. If you go to goon cartoons on YouTube, You'll see a bunch of animated shorts that I've done nothing. I don't think is anything from the comics that I've done, but they're just like these little shorts like, you'd see on Adult Swim or late night. They're kind of simple, you know, but they're kind of more for adults. So they're kind of like, what you would see on Adult Swim or like on MTV like kind of, you know, Bill Plympton.

48:13 In or Ralph bakshi kind of just alternate limited. You know what you'd see in the 90s when you go to an animation film festival or something. So we are doing original content there. What I do War lash or Fearless Dawn or anything as an animated series? Sure. I mean, I guess I would storyboarded first, I'd put an animatic together which you could see I could do that and put that online. But to animate, you know, an action show myself would be Kind of difficult, it would be much easier to do like a Bob's Burgers or Rick and Morty or something. Where two characters are talking. You know, more like a sitcom right now I could do pretty easily but when it comes to like action adventure, just a little more time, consuming a, little more difficult.

He is great in this series. He's as he was and we know him as a, you know, 80s music icon but he was also a really talented actor and this series is phenomenal. So it takes place in this little town in the middle of nowhere. Alaska and for reasons, no one seems to understand the town is being besieged by these Supernatural experiences that people are having and it ends up that there is a young man in town whose dad is this world famous psychic. And this, this young man has apparently inherited some of his dad's ability and he's the only person in town who can actually see the ghosts that are causing all of these terrifying situations.

52:55 Vincent D'Onofrio, obviously from Men In Black plays, this crazy unhinged preacher Kim. Coates is kind of an ally for this young man. Roman Mercer played by Alvin jogiya, who has to step up and try to SQ. This town from destruction. It's awesome. If you're a fan of the series Supernatural, you're going to love this one. Check it out. And then in the feature world this month, I really like see the thing with crackle is we have this programming team that scours the entertainment landscape and they find these gems that you just can't see anywhere else.

It's produced by Ridley Scott who is Usually produce the Martian Blade, Runner Gladiator, half the movies, where it's worth watching, for the last 30 years Stars. John boyega, who plays the reform star super star trooper from Star Wars, obviously, Stormtrooper. And Olivia Cook from House of the Dragon, Ready, Player One, Bill Skarsgard, who played Penny wise in it and this is great film. John putting a place this public defender who really wants to help people, but unfortunately, the system, Them is just grinding him into powder and come to find out through his relationship with one of his defendants. He finds out that there is a ton of money to be had that he can use to help other people.

Another favorite blast from the past so Brendan Fraser's all the rage right now with his golden globe-winning In for the whale, we got a 2013 film called break out of his where he is a felon in prison, finds out that his children are missing after witnessing a murder and he has to break out of jail in order to rescue his kids, finally cold comes the night, I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan and this Stars Bryan Cranston at his, most terrifying place a mobster. Who kidnaps a child in order.
